Description Family Cornaceae Originating from Siberia, Korea, China Voguish, kaleidoscopic, ethereal and brooding – a dogwood….seriously? Yes! This is the most cultured of them all, with black/purple stems providing a stunning winter display and setting off the fresh green foliage as it emerges in spring. Its small, unspectacular creamy white flowers are followed by white berries that persist on the bare black stems after the foliage has turned incendiary shades of yellow, red and purple before falling. The slowly spreading upright stems have the darkest colour if cut back in late winter, before its buds burst. Easy to grow in any soil in sun or part shade. Height and spread after 5 – 10 years 2.5m x 2.5m.
