Description Family Lamiaceae Garden origin A flamboyant, dazzling display of flowers for many months, from spring to late autumn, borne on a compact small shrub with aromatic branches and leaves. The wonderfully deep and lustrous magenta of the large blooms is complimented in a sophisticated way by the dark purple/black stems and calyces, counterbalancing the loudness of the petals perfectly. Evergreen in mild winters, it can be cut back hard in spring before the new growth appears to keep it compact. Perfect in Mediterranean or traditional English gardens and great in pots. It is easy to grow in any well drained soil in full sun, and great in coastal climates. Height and spread in 2 – 5 years 1m x 1m.
