Description Trutmezzer concerns the Witch’s Dagger in German folklore and sorcery. It traces the function of the magical blade as a hidden key of the spirit world. Contemplating its array of powers, which extend far beyond its better-known functions of cutting and division. Central to the understanding of the blade’s power is the figure of the Trud. An oppressive nocturnal spirit sharing some attributes with the Witch, as well as the blade’s function as a gatekeeper between worlds. Crafted in two parts, the first draws from the annals of folklore, magic, and archaeology to illuminate the hidden supernatural power of this essential implement of folk sorcery. Crucial to the understanding of the blade is the Drude, the malevolent German spirit associated with the Witch. More than a pedestrian tool of cutting or self protection. The Trutmezzer also behaves as an agent of revealing, unlocking doors to hidden worlds. The second part, entitled ‘The Singing Blade, the author recounts his personal journey leading to the under-standing, revelation, and use of his own magical blades. Through this process of gnosis, he comes to understand the points of contact between the ancient spirits of the blade and the contemporary goêtic magician, thereby bringing the archaic artifact of the Witch-Knife into the practices of modern occultism. The book is graced with original illustrations by Rowan Cassidy and calligraphy by Delia Vico. It is 80 pages, printed via offset lithography in black ink with red spot colour throughout.
