Description Family Crassulaceae Originating from E. Europe, China and Japan Chunky and brooding, this succulent, low, shrubby perennial adds a dramatic effect in gardens. Its purple/near-black foliage is abundant and borne on a dense clump of upright stems, striking in its own right. However, its flowers take the plant’s display to another level, with broad heads of rich pink/burgundy flowers appearing from summer until late autumn, providing an irresistible feast for all pollinators. Its compact habit is invaluable for creating contrast with upright plants and lighter foliage colours. Easy to grow in any non-acidic light soil in full sun. Height and spread after 2 – 5 years 50cm x 50cm.
